How It Works

THE SHORT VERSION

Pick your break. Claim your lucky spots or favourite teams. Join the show.

A hockey-card break lets collectors share the cost of opening boxes. Your listing tells you which product and how many boxes we will open, how cards are allocated, and the price of your selections. Hits are part of the excitement, never a guarantee.

Random Team — choose your lucky numbers

Each break has 32 numbered spots at one fixed CAD price. Tap one or more available numbers in the grid, check your selected count and total, then add them together to your cart.

Your lucky number is your spot in that break. It is not an NHL team number. After the break sells out, NHL teams are assigned through a separate randomization. You receive cards associated with your assigned team according to the listing’s posted rules.

Pick Your Team — choose your NHL teams

All 32 NHL teams are individually priced. Tap available team tiles to select or deselect them, then add your choices together. Each team can be purchased only once in that individual break.

You can purchase teams or lucky numbers from multiple breaks in one order. Your cart and order identify each break by its title and unique break number, with the exact team or spot beside it.

From the cart to the show

  1. Check the listing. Review the boxes, format, price and card-allocation rules.
  2. Choose your selections. Sold, reserved and already-in-cart choices are marked. Adding to a cart does not reserve a spot permanently; availability is checked again at checkout.
  3. Review your order. Confirm the break numbers, selections, shipping address and CAD total.
  4. Watch for break updates. Random Team assignments happen after sellout. Check the listing and our channel for updates; no exact break time is promised here.

See our Card Allocation & Team Assignments policy below for standard, multi-team, historical and ambiguous cards. The same rules apply to both break formats.

BOTH BREAK FORMATS · ONE POLICY

Card Allocation & Team Assignments

These rules apply to Random Team and Pick Your Team breaks. In Random Team, your NHL team is assigned separately after sellout; your lucky spot number is not a team choice. In Pick Your Team, you purchase your team directly. Once a card’s team is determined below, it belongs with the customer holding that team in that specific break.

Standard cards

Use the NHL team logo on the back of the card. If there is no team logo on the back, use the team logo or crest on the front. If the card still cannot be assigned confidently, it goes to manual review.

Team Canada & All-Star cards

For an active NHL player, use the player’s current NHL team. For a retired player or someone no longer playing in the NHL, use the NHL franchise for which that player played the most games. If the assignment cannot be determined confidently, including an unresolved tie or unclear player/team status, we review it manually rather than guess.

Historical franchise reference

Use these approved mappings when allocating historical franchise cards. The reference follows our franchise-continuity allocation rules, not geographic similarity.

Multiple NHL teams on one card

Randomize the card among the represented eligible NHL team slots using Random.org. Perform four randomizations; the fourth result determines the winning team. Preserve a transparent record of the result where practical. A card is never automatically awarded to the first team shown.

Unidentified or ambiguous cards

If the approved rules do not establish a confident assignment, the card requires manual review before allocation. We do not invent a default winner, automatic entitlement or disposal rule.

Approved decisions are recorded against the correct break and customer ownership records. Questions about a card? Email office@cedarsmith.com with the break number.

PayPal or Interac e-Transfer

PayPal: follow PayPal’s checkout prompts. Payment confirmation is recorded with your order.

Interac: payment is due within one hour of placing your order. Send the exact CAD order total to office@cedarsmith.com and include your order number in the transfer message.

Your Interac order stays On hold and its selections remain reserved while payment is awaiting verification. An order acknowledgement is not proof of payment. We verify bank receipt before marking the order paid. Unpaid orders are not automatically cancelled after one hour; any cancellation is a manual decision.

Never send banking passwords through this website or by email. If you need help, contact us with your order number.

Optional LOUD LOOT HOLD

Standard shipping is already free. Choose optional storage for CAD $20 per Eastern calendar month (America/Toronto; EST/EDT), including applicable tax. No prorating: the same price applies when joining late, and checkout shows the exact month-end expiry before you choose. An account is required for this service only; ordinary guest checkout remains available.

Activation starts only after verified payment. Pending Interac is not paid. Additional eligible purchases may join your active hold without a second initial charge and never restart or extend the paid month. You may explicitly purchase the next month for another CAD $20, up to three consecutive months. No automatic recurring charges.

Seven days before month end, a service reminder offers Renew for Next Month — $20 CAD or Ship My Cards. In the third month, shipment is the only option. Confirm your saved shipping address to request administrator review. No response at expiry means manual shipping review, without automatic renewal, dispatch, forfeiture or disposal.

One consolidated shipment is included when the hold ends. Up to 2 kg included; heavier-parcel additional costs must be quoted and approved. Cards valued above CAD $500 are accepted with insurance/tracking/signature review, and any additional costs must be discussed and approved. Unresolved linked purchases block shipment closure. Late payments outside the disclosed month or renewal eligibility window require manual review.
